Milk Powder Laddu Dipped in Chocolate

Three ingredient milk powder laddus are dipped in milk chocolate and white chocolate to resemble and taste like chocolate truffles! When traditional Indian laddu gets dipped in chocolate, we get this amazing fusion dessert.

The milk powder laddu can be served as is, without dipping in chocolate. Tastes delicious even without the chocolate frosting for those who like the traditional taste of laddus. Since chocolate chips are readily available, I have used semi sweet chocolate chips for the milk chocolate layer. I also wanted to share how easy it is to use a baking bar, which is what I have used for the white chocolate.

I personally found it easier to work with the baking bar- it was easier to dip and coat the laddus. You can use either chocolate chips or a baking bar, both work. I found the baking bar right next to the chocolate chips in Walmart for $1.50. So both are reasonably priced. Chocolate chips don’t need to be chopped but even a drop of water in the bowl or spoon can ‘seize’ the chocolate, making it not spreadable.

I had earlier made kalakand topped with melted chocolate chips and that has been a favorite on my blog-been tried and reviewed by many.

Notes

Cook the laddus on low heat. If dough can be rolled into a small ball, its ready. Shape Laddus while dough is still warm. Milk powder laddus taste great as is and can be served just like that. Dipping them in chocolate elevates the taste. Between the chocolate chips and baking bar,I found the baking bar, melted better and was easier to work with than the chocolate chips. While working with chocolate, its important to make sure the bowl and spoon are both completely dry. Moisture will seize the chocolate.
