Instant Kesar Peda/Kesar Penda

Three ingredients and five minutes to make this super easy peda. The flavor of saffron and cardamom goes really well with the milky, creamy pedas. I made these pedas for my daughter, she loves them and was the only thing she requested that I make for Diwali and her birthday.

I had all the ingredients for Kalakand and was getting ready to make it till I heard- ‘mom you haven’t made pedas in a long time’!  It really has been a while and before I could go through my old recipe diary and try and find the peda recipe, I see a post by Ananta Kaul, a foodie and an awesome cook, on one of the facebook groups. I just followed her recipe and they turned out perfect! Thanks Ananta for this easy and delicious recipe.

I loved this Instant Kesar Peda recipe as it didn’t involve, khoya, mawa or paneer-just condensed milk, milk powder and ghee, ingredients which I always have at home. If you follow my blog then you know I love instant recipes! Please try out Instant Shahi Tukra, Instant Badaam Barfi, Instant Rabri, Chocolate Covered Kalakand and Chocolate,Dates and Nut laddoo. All these recipes require  just 3-4 ingredients and can be made in under 10 minutes.

I love the taste of saffron and added a generous amount of it. These pedas can be made plain, without saffron and cardamom powder or you could add rose essence/extract to it.  I have also made Mango pedas, and they were such a hit at my daughters graduation party. Enjoy these pedas anytime of the year as they take just five minutes to make!

Instant Kesar Peda/Kesar Penda

Aanchal Gupta

A super easy three ingredient peda which is ready in 5 minutes. The flavor of saffron and cardamom goes really well with the milk, creamy pedas.

Prep Time 1 minute
Cook Time 5 minutes
Total Time 6 minutes

Servings 14 -15 pedas

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1 cups Full fat Milk Powder I used Nido brand
  • 200 gms/7 oz/half can of Condensed Milk
  • 1/4 tsp Elaichi powder/Green cardamom powder
  • 2 tsp warm milk for soaking saffron
  • 15-20 strands of saffron

Instructions

  • Soak saffron in warm milk and set aside
  • In a pan, on low heat, put ghee and melt
  • Add condensed milk and keep stirring till it mixed well, on low flame
  • Add milk powder, elaichi powder/green cardamom powder and saffron and continue stirring, on low till it leaves sides and becomes doughy, remove from heat
  • While STILL WARM, shape into pedas and make an indentation with your index finger
  • Garnish with additional saffron and pistachios
  • Lasts upto a week in the fridge

Notes

Cook on low the entire time and remove from heat as soon as it leaves sides and becomes doughy. Its important to shape them while still warm. I doubled the recipe and realized that by the time I came to shaping the last few, the dough was beginning to crack while shaping. If you are making a large quantity, its better to make two batches of peda instead of doubling the recipe.

My daughter and I were craving an Indian dessert and we made this amazing recipe in less than 10 mins. There is no prep time and turned our delicious. We used fat-free milk powder instead of full fat and it still turned out great. Thank you for such a simple dessert recipe.

Thanks Sridevi for sharing your feedback. So happy to hear that the pedas turned out great even with the fat free milk powder. It really is a quick recipe to make when craving strikes.
