  • Whisk yogurt with salt, sugar and some water to make thick pouring consistency, set aside. The amount of water used depends on the thickness of yogurt.
  • In rectangular dish, spread a layer of boiled chickpeas
  • Sprinkle some red chili powder and chat masala on the chickpeas, optional
  • Spread the air fried tater tots on top of the chick peas
  • Spread the papri/papdi(I use air fried tortillas cut into diamond shape, link shared below)
  • Drizzle the whisked yogurt on top of the papri
  • Drizzle some green chutney and tamarind chutney on top of the yogurt
  • Top with sev, cilantro and pomegranate seeds and serve immediately

Notes

Since papdi gets soggy quickly, keep all ingredients ready before assembling and layer papdi after the chick peas and tater tots. Tater tots are used as a short cut /hack in this chaat recipe instead of boiling, peeling and chopping the potatoes.(You can boil and dice the potatoes if you dont have tater tots) or try french fries or sweet potato fries for a healthier version. I use tortillas cut into diamond shape and air fried as papdi. It turns out just as crisp as the fried papdi available in stores. You can use store bought papri or make papdi at home. Or deep fry the cut up tortillas. The sweet tamarind chutney is also a quick hack, made with Apple Butter.
