A high protein and healthy breakfast made with dal and bread, both readily available in every household. Kids love it in their lunch boxes and it makes for great finger food for toddlers. Taste is similar to Moong dal vada without the extra fat! This quick and easy breakfast will keep you full for hours.
1/2 cup soaked dal yields 1 cup ground dal. You can grind ginger and green chilies/jalapenos along with the dal/lentils. You can add grated carrots,cabbage,finely chopped colored peppers to make it more nutritious. I have also made it with ground green moong dal/pesarattu batter and left over Mixed Dal dosa batter and they turn out very good.I would not recommend this with hard bread like ciabatta. It tastes great with brown bread. Do not skip the Eno/baking soda. Eno is preferred.
