Ingredients

  • 1 cup White Vinegar
  • 1/2 cup Baking Soda

Instructions

  • In your burnt pot/pan fill water, till the stain
  • Add vinegar and bring to boil
  • Add baking soda and let it simmer for 5 minutes(optional)being careful at this point as the baking soda tends to spill over
  • Let it cool completely or even overnight for heavily soiled/burnt pan
  • Scrub with a scouring pad and get a shiny, bright new looking pot/pan

Notes

Be extra careful while adding baking soda to the vinegar. There is a chemical reaction that takes place which is what helps to remove the stains. My pan was really big, so I did not move my pan from the stove, but I added the soda in small increments.Simmering is recommended for heavily soiled pots/pans.Otherwise you can just leave the baking soda in the hot vinegar water till cool enough to handle. For greasy pots, for e.g. if you made ghee, add a few drops of dishwashing liquid to the boiling water.A good way to do it would be to place your pot/pan in the sink while adding baking soda. This has the added benefit of cleaning the sink drain as well if some of the mixture spills into your sink!
