Vrat Ke Palak Pakore-Air Fryer Recipe

Vrat Spinach pakoras made in an Air Fryer in just a spoonful of oil are healthy and low fat. Made with Water chestnut/singoda flour and tapioca flour, these pakoras are gluten free and vegan.

Servings 10 -12 pakoras

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups finely chopped spinach firmly packed
  • 4 tbsp water Chestnut Flour/Singoda Atta
  • 1 tbsp Tapioca Flour
  • 1/2 tsp minced ginger
  • 1/4 tsp Red Chili powder/lal mirch powder
  • Salt as per taste I used little less than 1/2 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp oil

Instructions
 

  • Chop spinach
  • Add salt,ginger,chili powder and lemon juice and mix well/massage the chopped spinach with hands so it releases water
  • Add water Chestnut/Singoda flour and Tapioca flour
  • Bring everything together like a dough.
  • Add oil and mix well
  • Spray or oil the air fryer basket and place small pakoras directly on the basket.
  • Spray or brush oil(optional) on the pakoras
  • Cook in Air Fryer at 370 for 5 min
  • Flip the pakoras,spray or brush oil(optional)
  • Cook again for 5 min
  • You may cook a few minutes more if you like it extra crisp
  • Serve with chatni

Notes

If you like it crisper add a couple more minutes of cooking time. I air fried for 10 minutes as I had made these a little ahead of time for our evening snack. I warmed the pakoras for 3-4 minutes when we were ready to eat. Air Fryers vary-Its better to cook for a shorter time and add on more minutes if needed for crisper pakoras. My Air fryer is preset to 370F. No water is added to the batter, so add the flours cautiously, we don't want a very thick batter as the pakoras will be dry nor do we want a runny batter as the batter will flow through the holes in the Air Fryer basket.
