Portobello Mushroom Sandwich/Burger

Ingredients
  

  • 4-5 Portobello Mushroom
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • 2 tbsp Balsamic Vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic powder or 1 tbsp garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp Onion Powder optional
  • Salt and pepper as per taste
  • Red Chili powder/Lal mirch powder optional, if you want a spicy sandwich
  • 4-5 Ciabatta Bread
  • 4-5 slices Pepper Jack Cheese or any cheese
  • Lettuce Onions Tomatoes, sliced
  • Jalapenos optional
  • Butter
  • Mayonnaise optional
  • 1-2 tsp Olive oil

Instructions
 

  • Wash and clean Mushrooms under running water and rub gently with hands to clean. Remove the stems.
  • Let water drain from mushrooms.
  • Put Mushroom caps in a large flat dish,gill side up,smooth side down.
  • Pour oil,vinegar and sprinkle onion powder,garlic powder,salt and pepper on the mushroom.
  • Let mushroom marinate for a few hours to overnight.
  • Heat pan and drizzle 1-2 tsp oil.Add mushroom and cook both sides. It will leave a lot of water, cook till the water dries up.Keep aside.
  • Toast the bread on a pan with little butter. If using a grill, place on grill.
  • Put mayo on one side of the bread, top with cheese,Romaine or any lettuce,Onions, Tomatoes and mushroom patty. Top with another slice of Ciabatta bread.
  • Enjoy the tastiest Veg burger!

Notes

If you are vegan,just avoid the cheese and Mayo.If you are avoiding carbs, have the mushroom cap wrapped in lettuce leaves. Place a fried egg over it for a high protein, no carb breakfast and make it whole30 compatible.
